SOUTHBANK CENTRE

Marketing Internship Programme May 2008

An internship programme in Southbank Centre's Marketing department is an opportunity for 2nd or 3rd year students or graduates to join the team for a placement of up to three months.
We are currently recruiting for the placements starting in May 2008.

What you can expect from us:

We can offer you the opportunity to be in the middle of the action in one of Southbank Centre's key departments, and to get involved in activities that support the artistic vision, achieve ticket sales targets, build our profile and brand, help find new audiences and achieve audience loyalty.  Working either as a part of our Campaigns or New Media teams, this will include:

  • Becoming an active member of our busy but efficient marketing team
  • Insight and involvement in our multi-channel marketing activities
  • Understanding best practice in customer relations
  • Participating in marketing processes to support the team and the operation

In the Campaigns team you would also be:

  • Involved in developing marketing plans for a range of our products
  • Sourcing and collating information for marketing materials such as flyers, posters,
    brochures, programmes and web pages
  • Briefing designers in order to produce professional and effective print
  • Copy writing, website proofing and e-marketing opportunities

In the New Media team you would also be:

  • Working on specific website projects, such as online promotion for key campaigns
  • Using our content management system to put events on sale
  • Learning valuable research, analysis and reporting skills
  • Trained on e-bulletins and search marketing

You will receive on-the-job training and gain a good understanding of the practical side of running a multi-channel marketing campaign.

The post is voluntary so we are not able to pay you a salary, but we will compensate travel expenses within London (up to £170 per month).  Your Southbank Centre ID pass will entitle you to free entry to The Hayward and there may be opportunities to attend other events and concerts.

What we expect from you:

You will have, or be studying for, a degree with a marketing element or focus and will have a strong interest in a career in Marketing. You will be prepared to commit 3 to 4 days a week for a period of up to three months, starting in May.
