Dance Artists in Residence at Southbank Centre
Stan Won't Dance - Rob Tannion & Liam Steel
Southbank Centre has consolidated its relationship with Rob Tannion & Liam Steel, who were Dance Artists In Residence at Southbank Centre during 2003/04, by inviting their company Stan Won’t Dance to become Artists In Residence during 2005/07. Tannion created Stan Won’t Dance during his tenure at Southbank Centre, with fellow ex-DV8 lead performer Liam Steel. The residency was launched at the Queen Elizabeth Hall on Saturday 12 February 2005 with a re-worked version of their acclaimed show, Sinner - a self destructive solo for two men, which premiered at the Purcell Room in May 2003.
As Artists in Residence Stan Won’t Dance is involved in a programme of commissions, performances, projects with Southbank Centre Education and research and collaborations with different areas of the centre’s wide-ranging activities. Southbank Centre will support the development of the company and its work, assist with its international profile and help to build its relationships with other venues and festivals around the UK and internationally. Projects have included a major project in Spring 2005, Take Action: Stunt Dancing, in which Tannion worked with teenagers to explore animated gaming characters and motion capture systems.
