Boost

Page imageBoost is a mentoring and development scheme whereby six new designers receive industry support and advice, and, more crucially, the financial support to launch their product at Southbank Centre's design shop this autumn.

We received hundreds of applications to the scheme covering all aspects of design, from unique inventions to beautiful illustrations.

A board of designer-makers and industry experts spent a day interviewing the shortlisted candidates to narrow the group down to our winning candidates who are:

Amy Whitworth
Charlie Patterson & Jasper Van Den Bosch
Chloe Lee Carson

David Hallett
Ellie Gregory & Steph Parr aka Homeslice Design

The candidates are spending the summer working with the experts who have kindly volunteered their time to support the scheme- Keith Stephenson and Mark Hampshire from MiniModerns, Helen Johannessen of YoYo Ceramics, Rebecca Chitty of Product Of Your Environment, Michelle Mason, Ellen O’ Hara of Cockpit Arts, Mark Jonas of Authentics, Andrew Tanner and several others.

Watch this space for more details on the designers and their products which will launch exclusively to Southbank Centre in October 2012. Profiles of the designers and their progress, working practices and products can be found on our online media partner’s blog, Confessions of a Design Geek.

Boost is organised and run by Southbank Centre, in partnership with The Observer and with the support of Cockpit Arts, London's incubator hub for designer makers.
