The Sixth Symphony by Dvorak poses a colourful musical portrait of the composer’s rapturous rapport with conductor Hans Richter. After conducting a performance of Dvorak's Third Rhapsody, Richter hauled the composer onto the concert platform, proclaimed him a master, and wasted no time asking him for a new symphony. After much work Dvorak delivered this orchestral picture of their boisterous bond: a work full of Eroica-like momentum and everincreasing rhythmic energy; for many, Dvorak's most perfectly conceived and exhilarating orchestral creation.
