Alexander Markovichpiano
In 1893 Tchaikovsky died suddenly, robbing Russian music of its foremost talent and leaving a creative vacuum that Taneyev knew he and his colleagues would struggle to fill. And so, his mentor's life cut short, Taneyev forged a creative memorial - completing Tchaikovsky’s unfinished Third Piano Concerto in an act of resolve in the face of loss. Just a few years later Vasily Kalinnikov also died tragically young, his evocative and wholeheartedly Russian First Symphony complete, but neglected until its championing by Neeme Jarvi.
