Anton Bruckner Symphony No.7

Truls Morkcello
The death of his creative guiding light Richard Wagner in 1883 might have devastated Bruckner, but it inspired his finest symphonic achievement and the work that would bring him international attention and success: the Seventh Symphony. Bruckner's expansive orchestral panorama unfolds with the utmost nobility towards a touching Adagio seasoned with four Wagner tubas and arriving at a final heartrending coda - Bruckner's 'funeral music for the master'. Bruckner's best-loved symphony is truly a work of genuine profundity, dignity and imagination.
Royal Festival Hall at 6.15pm: David Wynne Jones from Cardiff University discusses Bruckner Symphony No.7. Admission free.
