Describing in words Vladimir Martynov's new work La Vita Nuova is virtually impossible. Based on a collection of verse
by Dante Alighieri, this is a piece that promises to turn the mirror on the very art form it inhabits. Martynov, visual artist,
musician and philosopher and one of Russia's most distinguished cultural figures, promises an exploration of the musical
genetics of opera from 'Debussy to Berg, from Gregorian chant to the serial technique'. His sensory journey to new
life receives its first complete performance in concert here at Royal Festival Hall.
Please note 7pm start
time.
