IIn this concert we take you to Mousehole, a tiny Cornish fishing village where Mowzer and her pet fisherman Old Tom braved
the fiercest storm of all time to bring back fish for the villagers. Ian Hughes wrote music for the film of The Mousehole
Cat (adapted from the book by Antonia Barber and Nicola Bayley), which we perform here. The Orchestra also visit Northumbria,
where a piper heralds the start of the Cross Lane Fair, depicted in music by Peter Maxwell Davies.
Royal
Festival Hall, pre- and post-concert: Try playing an orchestral instrument in one of our Have-a-Go sessions or get
your face painted. Admission free.
12.30pm: Nicola Bayley, illustrator of The Mousehole Cat signs
copies of the book after the performance.
