The combination of tenor Mark Padmore and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment has, in recent years, become synonymous
with performances of Bach's St John Passion, developing a new approach to the work informed by the music itself rather
than accumulated wisdom or a figurehead conductor. This has led to intense, committed and deeply moving performances. This
season they turn their attention to the St Matthew Passion, a work which even after 300 years has huge emotional power.
