The programme includes one of Messiaen's last works, an 11-movement cycle which was completed in 1992. Amid the increasingly sophisticated blend of instruments, long sustained melodic lines and delicate slow-moving textures develop during which time appears to stand still.
The music pauses only for breath, as if on a path which stretches towards eternity.
