Shell Classic International 2008/09

Every year we strive to bring audiences the most exhilarating and dynamic series of international orchestral performances. For the 2008/09 season we have two unique projects to announce. Pierre Boulez, perhaps the greatest conductor of contemporary music world wide, conducts the Paris-based Ensemble Intercontemporain in two centenary concerts in December and a residency with the hottest orchestral ticket in the world, the Simón Bolívar Youth Orchestra of Venezuela, conducted by the sensational young Venezuelan music director, Gustavo Dudamel.
Continuing relationships with Mariss Jansons and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Budapest Festival Orchestra and Zurich Opera help form a season that celebrates youth and maturity in equal measure. We hope you will enjoy the Shell Classic International season and look forward to welcoming you to Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, and indeed the entire Southbank Centre.
