The Sixteen 2007/08

The Sixteen 2007/08

The Sixteen return for the second season of concerts as Associate Artists at Southbank Centre. This season they explore repertoire from Guerrero to Henze taking in Janequin, Monteverdi, Poulenc and Britten along the way.

Their first concert sets the tone for Christmas festivities, with a performance of Benjamin Britten's A Ceremony of Carols. In March, they explore the works of two composers who lived four centuries apart, but whose pieces are equally influenced by the horrors of war. In May, three of Monteverdi's Madrigals of War and Love frame Henze's Orpheus Behind the Wire, which is arguably one of the most challenging and impressive choral works ever.
