Senegalese musician Diabel Cissokho is part of a griot family of musicians with a rich musical heritage. Kora player for Baaba Maal for three years, Diabel has supported and played with numerous other artists, including Femi Kuti, Nuru Kane, Daby Balde, Abdou Diop, Kandia Kouyate and Mama Draba, in concert venues and festivals across the world.
He extols a virtuosic talent across a range of genres, from traditional African to jazz and Afro-beat, and - in this new project - combines with guitarist Ramon Goose. Formerly the leader of NuBlues, Ramon has toured all over Europe with the likes of Eric Burdon and The Blind Boys of Alabama and has performed with James Brown's bandleader Pee Wee Ellis.
''The textural relation between blues slide guitar and African instruments (kora, n'goni/small banjo, percussion) generally yields striking results. The young man from Dakar sings in three West African languages with a caramel-rich voice that communicates sentiments to listeners despite a language barrier... Reining his guitar, Goose respects both the meditative and more expressive properties of their hybrid music.' (Downbeat)
