Delius' A Mass of Life is a choral and orchestral celebration of life, on a larger scale than anything else he composed, and is one of his greatest musical achievements. It is based on a libretto assembled from Nietzsche's poem Also sprach Zarathustra.
The Bach Choir marks the centenary of the first performance of this work, conducted by Sir Thomas Beecham, in London in 1909.
