Orange Prize Shortlist Reading

The Orange Prize Readings offer you exclusive readings and discussions with each of the shortlisted writers. The Prize always features a vibrant and varied shortlist of writers, emphasised by last year's sold-out event, and by the winner Téa Obreht for her novel 'The Tiger's Wife'.

The shortlisted writers for 2012 are
Esi Edugyan - 'Half Blood Blues'
Anne Enright - 'The Forgotten'
Georgina Harding - 'Painter of Silence'
Madeline Miller - 'The Song of Achilles'
Cynthia Ozick - 'Foreign Bodies'
Ann Patchett - 'State of Wonder'

Cynthia Ozick and Ann Patchett are not able to travel to London for the event. David Miller, Cynthia Ozick's agent, reads from her novel and discusses her work as part of the event. Ann Patchett has very kindly recorded a reading and commentary on her shortlisted novel, which is broadcast at the event.

The event will is chaired by the 2012 Orange Prize Chair of Judges, Joanna Trollope.
