Maurice Ravel: Valses nobles et sentimentales
Hector Berlioz: Les nuits d'été
Camille Saint-Saëns: Symphony No.3 in C minor (Organ)

Praised by The New York Times for her 'creamy singing', mezzo soprano Susan Graham performs Les nuits d'été by Berlioz - exquisite orchestral songs which make perfect listening for a summer evening.

Charles Dutoit has a special affinity with the music of both Berlioz and Ravel, and the programme opens with Ravel's witty Valses Nobles et Sentimentales. The waltzes began life as a piano suite before Ravel transformed them with his unique palette of orchestral colours.

The 'Organ' Symphony by Saint-Saëns is perhaps his most majestic achievement, with an expansive structure, virtuosic display and, of course, the grand sound of the organ adding richness to the orchestra.
