After a decade of support and award-giving to young musicians, the Borletti-Buitoni Trust’s (BBT) legacy is a roster of some of the world’s most sought-after soloists - just some of whom are participating in this celebratory weekend. As well as three evening concerts with founding trustee Mitsuko Uchida, BBT Unwrapped and BBT Out of the Box free events provide a lively insight into the careers of talented musicians with pre-concert talks, masterclasses and a keen debate, Is Talent Enough? www.bbtrust.com
So what does it take to become a brilliant musician in demand on concert platforms all over the world? Exceptional talent, yes – but that’s not the whole story. Behind every performance is a relentless regime of preparation, practice, promotion and hard work bolstering the sheer talent and virtuosity. BBT Unwrapped aims to give a lively insight into the careers of some of the young musicians BBT has supported as they progress their flourishing careers.
Public masterclasses are fascinating events enjoyed by everyone – be they musicians, students, fans or just music-loving members of the audience. They are a chance to discover more of the personality and virtuosity of the players and gain insight into the techniques and capabilities of a musical instrument. BBT has chosen four of its award winners specially committed to broadening the appreciation and understanding of their particular instruments.
