There is something very special about a solo piano recital: even in a large hall, a single performer and a single instrument draws the performer into an intimate and powerful experience.
A succession of the world’s finest pianists comes to London to perform in the 2015/16 International Piano Series. From venerable masters of the instrument such as Maurizio Pollini and Mitsuko Uchida to exciting emerging artists, including Lukas Geniušas and Denis Kozhukhin, you will find a wealth of inspiring music-making. The music ranges from the famous masterpieces of Bach, Schubert and Chopin to an all-American programme, played by rising star Tamara Stefanovich.
A special focus on the legacy of the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw finds several former prizewinners among the recitalists, including the Chinese superstar Yundi as well as Ingrid Fliter from Argentina; and the winner of the 2015 contest will appear at the International Piano Series soon after triumphing.
