Set to Stravinsky's seminal composition for the infamous 1913 ballet The Rite of Spring, this sensual and intense dance work by celebrated choreographer Meryl Tankard explores the conflicting forces of nature and man, masculinity and femininity, violence and nurturing, strength and vulnerability. The Oracle is a vehicle for the talents of Paul White, acclaimed as one of Australia's greatest dancers. He is currently a member of Pina Bausch's Tanztheater Wuppertal company, where Meryl Tankard was a key performer in the 1980s.
There is a post-show discussion after the performance.
'This is a tour de force for White and Tankard.' (The Australian)
'The Oracle speaks to us through the invincible grace of Paul White. He is the Chosen One, perhaps a god of the stage. His solo has already reached cult status.' (Le Progres de Lyon, France)
