On his doctor's advice, Claudio Abbado has cancelled his orchestral commitments for September and October 2013. Claudio Abbado is confident he will recover rapidly and be able to participate in all future projects.
It has also been announced that pianist Martha Argerich will no longer be performing at this concert.
We are pleased to announce that Bernard Haitink is conducting Orchestra Mozart's UK debut concert as part of Shell Classic International and soloist Maria João Pires is also joining the orchestra to perform Beethoven's Piano Concerto No.2.
We are deeply indebted to Mr Haitink and Ms Pires for making possible their appearances at such short notice.
Since its debut in Bologna in 2004, the orchestra has worked with some of the world's top soloists.
The Fourth Symphony dating from 1806, a decade after the concerto, includes a powerful slow movement of which Berlioz wrote 'One is seized from the first bars, with an emotion that by the end becomes shattering in its intensity!'
Change of programme: Please note that the originally advertised Haydn Symphony No.104 (London) and Mozart Piano Concerto No.9 in E flat, K.271 have been replaced by Beethoven Overture Leonore No.2 and Piano Concerto No.2.
