Hayward Gallery Touring is the largest and longest standing organisation in the UK to tour exhibitions of modern and contemporary art. We collaborate with galleries and museums across the country, nurturing new curatorial approaches and acting as a laboratory of ideas.

Our exhibitions include the British Art Show, imaginative shows curated by artists and writers and the Curatorial Open. We also have a programme of smaller scale print and photography shows that tour to schools, libraries, colleges and arts centres in every part of Britain.

How we work

Hayward Gallery Touring is nothing without our partners. By pooling ideas and resources to create ambitious and complex exhibitions that might be beyond the scope of a single gallery, we can maximise the scale and impact of a show to reach a wider public. It is essential for us to be in dialogue, sharing ideas and fostering cross-country relationships.

Who’s who

Roger Malbert; Head of Hayward Gallery Touring

With an extensive and intimate knowledge of the UK’s arts organisations, Roger heads up the team, overseeing the programme and cultivating relationships for future projects.

Charlotte Baker; Gilly Fox and Antonia Shaw, Assistant Curators

Our Curatorial Team project manage exhibitions, planning and supervising each installation, whilst also working with Roger to develop future shows and partnerships. Between them they have overseen a large number of touring exhibitions including British Art Show 8, Elizabeth Price Curates, Jeremy Deller Curates, Curiosity: Art and the Pleasure of Knowing and Shonky: The Aesthetics of Awkwardness, which won our 2017 Curatorial Open.

Alison Maun; Exhibition Bookings and Indemnity Co-ordinator

Alison is the first port of call for enquiries about working with us and our exhibitions. She schedules the tours for our print and photography shows and manages contracts with partners and artwork insurance.

Transport and Technical Team

Our team of experienced technicians help to install and deinstall the exhibitions at each showing. As a ‘Museum on Wheels’, we transport artworks in our own vans with air suspension and climate-control. Sharing the Hayward Gallery’s history and reputation for quality and professionalism earns us the trust of national, international and private lenders.

As well as working with this dedicated team, our tour partners may also also work with the Hayward Gallery’s Registrars, Press and Marketing departments, depending on requirements.
