Southbank Centre’s roots as a festival producer date all the way back to 1951 and the first Festival of Britain. We offer a rich, year round programme of cross-arts celebrations.
Our festival model is unique and enables us to develop events collaboratively with partners to create bespoke touring festivals that respond to the interests of their local audiences.
Alchemy is Southbank Centre’s cross-arts festival celebrating the cultural relationship between the UK and the Indian subcontinent. Every year it showcases the very best classical and contemporary music, literature, design, comedy, fashion, spoken word and dance from the UK and South Asia, and attracts diverse audiences to our venues.
In 2015 and 2017 Alchemy expanded outside of London with Alchemy on Tour, a partnership with Black Country Touring, Cast, Doncaster, Oldham Coliseum Theatre and Southbank Centre. Alchemy on Tour is generously supported by Arts Council England and the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.
WOW – Women of the World is one of Southbank Centre’s most popular festivals, celebrating women and girls and bringing together people all over the world for discussions on everything from contemporary feminism, to women and science fiction.
Launched to mark the centenary of International Women’s Day, WOW quickly grew beyond the 21 acres of the Southbank Centre and is now a global network of festivals which has reached over one million women and girls, men and boys, across five continents.
