What better way to celebrate the imminent descension of M.I.A.’s Meltdown on Southbank Centre than with a new track from the festival’s curator?
As the countdown to the festival moves from days into hours, M.I.A. has ramped up the anticipation of this year’s Meltdown in her own incomparable style, with the release of a new track. ‘Fighting H-A-T-E with L-O-V-E’ the new track Goals, produced by Portuguese musician Branco, has been described by M.I.A. as a love letter to her fans.
Goals distinct video (above) features the work of Jaime Martinez, a photographer and artist signed to M.I.A.’s label N.E.E.T. Martinez has curated a series of GIFs from images taken of M.I.A. and her fans during the rapper's recent tours and the resulting video will run on display across Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall during Meltdown.
Tickets are still available for this year’s Meltdown, for which M.I.A. has brought together emerging and established artists from across the world including, among others, Soulwax, Giggs, Crystal Castles, Young M.A, Princess Nokia, I Wayne, Dexta Daps and Tommy Genesis.
