Throughout the summer, Ad Minoliti’s colourful geometric designs could be seen across the Southbank Centre site, on flags along the roof of Royal Festival Hall, as well as on windsocks, trees, bollards and the outdoor Riverside Stage, as part of her site-wide installation Playcentre (2019). Minoliti often starts her titles with ‘play’ – a ‘generous word’ intended by the artist as an invitation to take part in something, to join in. In Playcentre, Minoliti presents a ‘trans-human utopia’ populated by characters who resist binary gender definitions.
Ad Minoliti (b. 1980, Buenos Aires, Argentina) lives and works in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
