Andy Warhol: Other Voices, Other Rooms

Andy Warhol: Other Voices, Other Rooms, 7 October 2008 – 18 January 2009, Hayward Gallery.Taking its title from a novel of self-discovery by Truman Capote, whom Warhol greatly admired, Other Voices, Other Rooms shed new light on the celebrated pop artist and focused on the ideas at the heart of his work: embracing consumer culture, exploring sexual identity, challenging social conventions, and erasing distinctions between high and low culture.

Featuring films, videos, television shows, paintings, drawings, prints, wallpaper, installations, objects, seldom heard audio recordings, and extraordinary archival material (including material from Warhol’s time capsules), the exhibition emphasised the artist’s multi-media approach.

The exhibition was organised by the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; Moderna Museet, Stockholm; and The Andy Warhol Museum, Pittsburgh.
