Keeping you safe

The Hayward Gallery’s Among the Trees exhibition reopens from Thursday 30 July to Members and Supporters, and from Saturday 1 August to the public. The Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall and Purcell Room remain closed for now.

As we welcome you back, find out how we're keeping you safe and check the latest information so that you can plan your visit.

Our number one priority is the health and wellbeing of our visitors and staff. We’re following the official government guidance on working safely during coronavirus to make sure we’re Covid-secure.

Measures we’ve introduced so far include:

  • Reduced visitor numbers
  • Clear signage and one-way systems
  • Removal of seating and changes to access
  • Hand sanitiser stations
  • Regular and thorough cleaning
  • Going cash-free

We’ll continue to review and manage any risks and to respond to any changes in the guidance, keeping our staff trained and up to date as we go.

Plan your visit

New opening times

The Hayward Gallery’s opening times have changed:

Open Wednesday – Saturday, 11am – 7pm, and Sunday, 10am – 6pm; closed Monday and Tuesday.

Pre-booking online is essential

All visitors must book online before visiting. Members and Supporters go free, but need to book a time slot, too. There’s no need to print your ticket – just show your phone to our hosts on entry.

Keep others safe

You must wear a face covering during your visit, for your safety and the safety of others. Please, stay at home if you have symptoms of illness such as a cough, sore throat or fever or have been in contact in the past 14 days with someone who has coronavirus. Email to refund or exchange your ticket.

when you arrive

Get here as close to your time slot as possible – you won’t be able to come into the Hayward Gallery to wait, and our other buildings are still closed for now. Our cloakroom is closed, so please leave bags over 40 x 25 x 25cm at home. Once you’re inside the Hayward Gallery, follow our one-way system, keep a safe distance from others and use the hand sanitiser provided.

Southbank Centre Food Market

Our food market reopens Friday 7 August. To make sure your visit is safe, we are taking the following measures:

  • Restricted number of customers
  • One-way system in place
  • Dedicated entry and exit points
  • Going cash-free
  • Socially distanced queues
  • Reduced number of traders
  • Hand sanitiser stations

We’ve also achieved the official industry standard ‘We’re Good to Go’, which certifies that we’ve worked hard to follow government and industry COVID-19 guidelines. find out more
