Tyondai Braxton TELEKINESIS

Part of Classical Season

See the world premiere of TELEKINESIS, a large-scale work for orchestra, electronics and choir by Tyondai Braxton, one of the most exciting young artists in New York today.

Throughout his career, the former guitarist, keyboardist and singer of experimental rock band Battles has been writing and performing music under his own name, including 2009’s Central Market and 2015’s HIVE1.

In Tyondai’s own words, ‘TELEKINESIS is a work for large orchestra, electronics and choir which forges a deeper relationship between my electronic and notated music. With a nod toward sci-fi film soundtracks and sound exploration masterworks like Akira, Feldman’s Coptic Light, Varese’s Ameriques, TELEKINESIS explores the idea of abstracted scale: massive musical shapes and gestures moving through an ever evolving landscape’.

Further details of the concert will be announced shortly.

TELEKINESIS is a co-commission by Southbank Centre, London and Musica nova, Helsinki Festival.
