Spira mirabilis

Part of Classical Season 2017/18

Spira mirabilis returns to the newly refurbished Queen Elizabeth Hall.

The ensemble has been hailed by Tom Service in The Guardian as ‘...a transformative vision of what a symphony orchestra can be... They are a revelation.’

The group continues its journey through Beethoven’s symphonies with the majestic Symphony No.7. This is a work which has in recent years found a new audience through the film The King’s Speech.

Framing the famous slow-build of the Allegretto are a boisterous first movement, scintillating Presto and ebullient finale.

The Times described this ensemble’s performance of Beethoven’s Sixth Symphony as ‘ of the most glorious Beethoven interpretations I have ever heard’.
