OAE: Mozart: Master of Deception, with Sir Roger Norrington

Part of Classical Season

Sir Roger Norrington conducts the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment in a concert that reveals more of Mozart’s hidden depths.

Join the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment for the second of two concerts exploring the hidden secrets of Mozart’s familiar scores, with its very own two Rogers – Emeritus Conductor Sir Roger Norrington and Principal Horn Roger Montgomery.

Mozart loved the horn, and his horn concertos are as playful and enjoyable as any of his music. The instrument has evolved greatly since Mozart’s day, but tonight you can hear it as it would have sounded, performed on the OAE’s period instruments.

There is more to Mozart than meets the eye. His repertoire is replete with surprises and deceptions.

Mozart was the ultimate musical genius – and the ultimate game player. He tore up the rulebook, and if you hear his music twice, you never have quite the same experience.
