City of London Sinfonia - Hero Worship: Beethoven, Napoleon and Revolution

Part of Classical Season 2017/18

Heroes define their age – and by any measure Beethoven is a hero. His Razumovsky Quartets redefined chamber music, and with his Eroica Symphony he altered the course of music itself for ever.

As his hearing faded, Beethoven poured his anguish into his music; Brett Dean’s Testament is a glimpse at the thoughts of a man who stepped back from the brink for his music.
