Charlotte Bray: Chamber Music

Part of Classical Season 2018/19

The Mariani Piano Quartet join forces with pianist Huw Watkins and the Ducasse Trio to perform new chamber music by Charlotte Bray.

Composer Charlotte Bray has emerged as a distinctive and outstanding talent of her generation. Exhibiting uninhibited ambition and desire to communicate, her music is exhilarating, inherently vivid, and richly expressive with lyrical intensity. This concert launches her second CD, Chamber Music and Solos, including recently commissioned chamber works.

Praised for their vitality, the Berlin-based Mariani Piano Quartet have recorded and toured widely since their formation in 2011. They are joined on the stage by pianist Huw Watkins – ‘a key interpreter of the foremost British composers’ – to perform works from the CD; and by special guests the Ducasse Trio playing a recent composition by Charlotte.

The Quartet also introduce a work by the little-heard of German 19th-century Romantic composer, Emilie Mayer.
