David Rodigan and The Outlook Orchestra

Celebrate David Rodigan MBE’s 40 years in the industry as broadcaster and DJ as he joins forces with the critically acclaimed 25-piece Outlook Orchestra for a captivating one-off performance.

See David narrate stories journeying through years of reggae music, highlighting what David bookmarks as some of the most important riddims used across reggae, with nods to ska, rock steady, lover’s rock, dancehall and the more contemporary electronic genres of jungle and dubstep.

Get moving in this timeline of music David loves and has been an ambassador for, for over four decades.

The Outlook Orchestra is a force of nature in its own right. Having already sold out shows at Southbank
Centre and Bristol’s Coslton Hall, they’ve also headlined their own Outlook festival in Croatia, and collaborated and featured the likes of Dawn Penn, Roots Manuva and Horace Andy.

This evening’s performance is of huge cultural significance: it’s rooted in the fusion of Jamaica’s soundtrack with the sounds, colours and influences of British subculture. It’s about celebrating a remarkable British music icon, alongside the sounds of a small Caribbean island with massive universal reach. It’s about shining a light on and bringing together people from all walks of life and communities through a unique genre with timeless, ageless and classless appeal.

David is a pioneer in reggae music. As a selector and radio personality, his vast knowledge of Jamaican music and its culture has helped to educate and fascinate music lovers around the world; he’s an amazing son of the music, and an icon. We couldn’t have made it this far without him
