What You Need to Know: Ligeti in Depth

Get to know the man behind the music and go beyond 2001: A Space Odyssey in this study day. Explore the Ligeti compositions highlighted in the forthcoming Ligeti in Wonderland festival (Fri 11 – Sun 13 May).

This day features in-depth talks and discussions on Ligeti's life and works, an 'insider's view' of the upcoming festival, and focused talks on Ligeti and the piano and Ligeti's music in film.

Hosted by music critic and writer Paul Griffiths OBE (author of Modern Music and After and the1983 biography György Ligeti) and featuring live music from pianist Joseph Havlat, the day explores the man and the music in depth with Richard Steinitz OBE. Steinitz was founder and artistic director for 23 years of Huddersfield Contemporary Music festival and writer of the 2003 biography György Ligeti: Music of the Imagination.
