iGeneration: Miss Representation

Part of WOW – Women of the World

Discuss the relationship between young women and social media in our new monthly night for young creatives and thinkers.

Violet Nights is a space for young people to social, experiment and explore with music, performances and discussion.

In this WOW special, we talk about the demands young women face in living up to the continual feed of restrictive definitions of beauty. With recent findings from university researchers suggesting that looking at too many selfies can lead to depression, how easy is it to push back against this culture of perfection? And can social media be used to shift the power balance and create nuanced definitions of beauty?
