Resurrection Symphony

Part of Classical Season 2020/21

No recording can do Gustav Mahler’s Resurrection Symphony justice, so hear it live with the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

The end has come, and in the silence after the last trumpet, the song of a solitary bird is the only sound heard on Earth.

The ambition of Mahler’s symphony staggers the imagination – it's an emotional odyssey on a universal scale that begins in tragedy and ends in the rebirth of a universe.

In between come tenderness, rage, pitch-black humour and – yes – the end of the world itself.

Under the brilliant young maestro Klaus Mäkelä, a specially expanded LPO gives it their all.
