From being the first countries to give women the right to vote, to pioneering paternity leave, Nordic countries have produced many landmark achievements on the road to gender equality. But is there still more to be done?
The Nordics are at the top of world rankings of the most gender equal countries on the planet, and yet this utopian image often overlooks the challenges still to be faced for both men and women, from sexism in the workplace, to higher than average rates of male suicide.
A panel of Ministers and other experts from the Nordic region who are thinking about and pioneering these policies discuss gender equality in the Nordic region, the gap between the perception and the reality, the successes, what what there's left to do.
The talk will be chaired by Halla Gunnarsdóttir, Head of Policy and Partnerships, Women’s Equality Party.
From Denmark: Karen Ellemann, Danish Minister for Equal Opportunities and Nordic Cooperation
From Norway: Laila Bokhari, State Secretary, Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
From Finland, Anu Partanen, journalist and author of most recently The Nordic Theory of Everything: In Search of a Better Life
