New Life: Inspired by Sukanya

Part of Alchemy

Enjoy a musical performance inspired by Ravi Shankar's opera Sukanya.

Directed by Ranjana Ghatak, the British Indian classical singer and composer, this musical performance draws on the motifs and narratives of Shankar's opera.

Blending Indian and western classical styles, the piece has been developed in collaboration with its performers: children from Avanti House School in Pinner, members of the Royal Opera House Thurrock Community Chorus and Musical Director Jeremy Haneman, with members of BBC Singers.

Produced in partnership with Southbank Centre’s Voicelab, Royal Opera House Thurrock Community Chorus and BBC Singers.
