JD Samson/Mykki Blanco

Part of M.I.A.'s Meltdown

Riot grrrl rap and party music await as US rapper and queer pioneer Mykki Blanco takes to the stage. All before musician, producer, DJ and activist JD Samson (Le Tigre, MEN) gets behind the decks for this late-night Meltdown party.

Mykki Blanco (born Michael David Quattlebaum Jr) first began his career making crushing industrial punk under the moniker No Feat before beginning a video art project that would grow to be the glamorous riot grrrl rap of Mykki Blanco. Since bursting onto the music scene with the Mykki Blanco and the Mutant Angels EP, he has released multiple works and created his own imprint DOGFOOD Music Group, a label aimed at giving voice to underground artists that share his vision and transcend conventional boundaries.

His effusive energy is followed with music from JD Samson, best known as the leader of the band MEN and for being one-third of punk band Le Tigre. For more than decade, JD’s career has landed her at the intersection of music, art, activism and fashion.

Having toured the world and produced songs for Grammy Award-winning artists, you can dance the night away with her electronic-feminist-punk sound in a party that’s all about positive energy.
