Violet Nights: Afro Queer

Part of Africa Utopia

In this month’s Violet Nights share the personal and discuss the political experiences of young queer people from the African diaspora. Tying into Africa Utopia, we look into the intersections between race and queerness, discussing political activism, nightlife and the connection between the two.

Speakers include artist and writer Kareem Reid, and actor, theatremaker and drag king Temi Wilkey. Performance artist Lasana Shabazz – whose work explores queer identity through theatre, dance, film and music – closes the night.

Violet Nights is a space for young people to safely experiment, socialise and explore with music, performance and discussion.
