Masayoshi Fujita

Part of Erased Tapes is ten

Witness Berlin-based Japanese vibraphonist and composer Masayoshi Fujita’s innovative performance as he avoids traditional vibraphone styles and techniques.

Having learnt how to play the drums, followed by extensive vibraphone training to craft and play his own jazz and electronic-influenced compositions, Masayoshi has prepared his own version of a vibraphone, built from pieces of metal, strips of foil and other objects.

The resulting new sounds help to expand the vibraphone spectrum without eroding the instrument’s intrinsic character. Hear what new possibilities can be invented for this instrument, when Masayoshi performs live.
