Yogyanese Gamelan Course

Are you an experienced gamelan player? Attend a course with master musician Drs Sunardi (Head of SMKI Yogyakarta) to explore the playing techniques of Yogyanese gamelan music.

Repertoire includes Yogya-style wayang and dance accompaniment.

Each day is divided into three sessions.

Session one: 2pm – 3.30pm
Session two: 4pm – 5.30pm
Session three: 6.30pm – 8.30pm

This course is part of London Gamelan Festival 2017, generously sponsored by the Ministry of Education and Culture, Republic of Indonesia and the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, London.

Age recommendation
For ages 16+. Please note, this course is not suitable for beginners. It is tailored towards gamelan players with prior knowledge of the basics of Javanese gamelan (recommended two years of playing experience).

Please note, this event is free but ticketed. You can book your free ticket online, by phone or in person (no fees apply).

You can book for one or both days. One ticket covers a whole day, but each session is optional (for example, you can purchase a ticket even if you are only able to attend one session on the day).
