Seven Thousand Words for Human: Endangered Poetry

Part of London Literature Festival

According to UNESCO, one language is being lost every two weeks and of the 7,000 languages that are classed as endangered, half will be lost by the end of the century.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Poetry International Festival, five UK-based poets perform new poetry commissions in languages that are endangered, under threat or that the poets themselves have lost due to displacement or circumstance.

These poems are performed in their original language, as well as translated into English by poet and translator Stephen Watts.
