Ozmosys

Part of EFG London Jazz Festival

Groove with the new quartet from drummer Omar Hakim, featuring keyboardist Rachel Z, bassist Linley ‘Lokaf’ Marthe and guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel.

Hakim’s drumming has underpinned an incredible array of music in the past 30 years, from Miles Davis, David Bowie, Madonna, Kate Bush and Daft Punk’s worldwide hit ‘Get Lucky’.

Rachel Z emerged first as a member of Steps Ahead, had a high-profile collaboration with Wayne Shorter on his High Life album, and subsequently toured the world with Peter Gabriel and Pino Daniele.

Originally from Mauritius and now based in Paris, Marthe’s true emergence on the world stage was with great bass talent scout Joe Zawinul, who called Marthe ‘the best in the world’.

Rosenwinkel’s album The Next Step defined a whole new era in small group jazz composition and sound. Since then Rosenwinkel has toured the world leading his own groups and, among many other things, collaborated with Eric Clapton.
