Tracy Chevalier & Sally Gardner

Part of London Literature Festival

Bestselling author of Girl with A Pearl Earring Tracy Chevalier joins us for the finale event to discuss her new YA novel, New Boy: a retelling of Othello set over the course of a single day in a school playground in Washington DC. Tracy is in conversation with multi award-winning novelist Sally Gardner, whose new book My Side of the Diamond is released on 5 October.

Tracy Chevalier is an American-British novelist who has written eight novels so far, and is best known for her second novel, Girl with A Pearl Earring, which was made into a film starring Scarlett Johansson and Colin Firth. It was nominated for 10 BAFTAs and two Academy Awards.

Sally's work has been translated into more than 22 languages. Her novel Maggot Moon (Hot Key Books) won both the Costa Children's Book Prize and the Carnegie Medal 2013, and her genre-defying novel The Double Shadow (Orion) was also longlisted for the Carnegie Medal 2013. Sally also won the 2005 Nestle Children's Book Prize for her debut novel I, Coriander.
