The Impact of Jazz: Jazz Journeys

Part of EFG London Jazz Festival

Learn about the journey of jazz across oceans in this talk, part of a study day packed with enlightening talks and discussions, as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival.

University of Liverpool's Head of Music Professor Catherine Tackley presents a day of discussions on how the arrival of jazz impacted Britain in the 1920s and 30s, from art and design to everyday domestic life. Pop in for one session, or for the whole day.

Join Dr Katherine Williams (University of Plymouth) and Dr Andy Fry (King’s College, London) as they discuss the reciprocal journeys of jazz across the Atlantic and also to France. This session explores the influence of jazz on British musical culture and the impact of dance bands, a British response to jazz, on the adoption of the music elsewhere.
