Ana Silvera Album Launch

Part of Women in Music at Southbank Centre

Hear alt-folk singer Ana Silvera perform her BASCA-nominated song cycle Oracles.

Originally commissioned for experimental London-based choir The REC, and written in response to the sudden death of her brother, Silvera’s Oracles draws on folktales and myths to chart a transformative journey from profound grief to tentative acceptance.

This concert celebrates the piece’s full-format release on future analogue label Gearbox Records.

For this newly arranged version, Silvera is joined by a stellar ensemble of vocalists and musicians, including multi-instrumentalist Josephine Stephenson, who has worked with Nils Frahm and Nico Muhly, double bassist Jasper Høiby (Phronesis and Fellow Creatures), vocalist and violinist Alice Zawadzki, cellist and vocalist Alice Purton, pianist Will Barry (Fellow Creatures) and drummer Marc Michel.

This multi-media launch also premieres a specially commissioned dance film to accompany a track from Oracles, created by director and dancer Kate Church (Royal Ballet, C4 Random Acts) and art director Alice Williamson.

The evening features specially arranged new songs in the first half, followed by Oracles in the second half.
