Winner of the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition

Mussorgsky’s Songs and Dances of Death crown a recital of potent vocal works with Ukrainian baritone Andrei Kymach, here in his London debut.

Winner of the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World 2019 Kymach performs with distinguished Russian pianist Semion Skigin.

A programme of heightened emotion features arias from Verdi’s early, tumultuous opera I masnadieri, alongside works from Donizetti, Tchaikovsky, Bizet and Rachmaninov, in a Park Lane Group concert.

Kymach came to singing late, after studying philosophy at
university. He debuted at the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia in 2017, in the role of Don Carlos in Dargomyzhsky’s The Stone Guest.

Kymach was the right winner: a burnished sound, a secure presence, stylish, precise and expressive

a saturnine, glowering presence, dramatic of both appearance and voice

Kymach’s success will see him in demand across the world – and rightly so
