Sistema Europe Youth Orchestra

Part of Summer at Southbank Centre

Revel in the energy of youth at an orchestral performance of the young musicians from 15 European countries who make up the Sistema Europe Youth Orchestra.

The dynamic repertoire takes in high-energy Latin American rhythms, celebrates Leonard Bernstein on the 100th anniversary of his birth, showcases new music by British composer Errollyn Wallen and revisits orchestral classics from Holst and Handel.

The concert is the culmination of a day of related events across Southbank Centre, with lots of opportunities to engage with the young musicians.

Members of the Sistema Europe Youth Orchestra come from a network of music and social action programmes in Europe, inspired by El Sistema in Venezuela, transforming the lives of young people and their communities through music. Its annual summer residency is taking place in the UK for the first time.
