Nu Civilisation Orchestra with special guest Soweto Kinch

This event celebrates jazz greats Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzy Gillespie, Mongo Santamaría, Tadd Dameron, Buddy Rich, and Thelonious Monk.

To mark the centenary of the birth of these icons, Nu Civilisation Orchestra delivers a spectacular evening combining archive film portraits with big band classics featuring some of today’s finest jazz musicians.

The programme features performances from award-winning saxophonists Binker Golding (Binker and Moses) and Nathaniel Facey (Empirical), and rising star trombonist Rosie Turton (Nérija) under the directorship of acclaimed composer, pianist and conductor Peter Edwards.

This show also features the multitalented British jazz alto saxophonist and rapper Soweto Kinch.

Opening for these outstanding artists are talented young musicians from six Brighton schools, performing as part of The Jazz Ticket schools programme.

The Jazz Ticket, a project by Tomorrow’s Warriors, gives young musicians the opportunity to work with leading jazz professionals to develop their performance and improvisation skills, while exploring the rich and inspiring history of the genre.
