Indian Music Course

Part of Darbar

Join us for this essential all-singing, all-dancing guide to everything you wanted to know about Indian classical music, but were afraid to ask.

This course aims to demystify traditions and the practices that are central to this most ancient of classical musical tradition. Aimed at complete beginners, it is also useful for those with some knowledge of Indian or European classical music. The course will cover both North Indian (Hindustani) and South Indian (Carnatic) traditions, raga and tala theory as well as the origins and contemporary history of the genre.

Award-winning broadcaster, journalist, novelist and critic, Jameela Siddiqi, leads the course. Sessions also feature
live musicians with sitarist, Harmeet Virdee, and Sukhdeep Dhanjal on the tabla.
